Defamation though facebook? SCC hears B.C. case.

Can posting a link to someone’s facebook or webpage qualify as defamation? The Supreme Court of Canada is going to hear a case soon about just that. The gist of this case is about whether a link placed on a Canadian website to other sites on that contain defamatory statements is the same as publishing defamation statements. The lower courts in British Columbia said there was so publication. The implications of the Supreme Court of Canada overturning this decision are severe because wall posts, links, blogs and other activity on the internet could qualify as defamation.
